Description

ETA: I was corrected (again), and rightly so (again), that the clothing style is actually called "Regency" when in reference to England, and "Empire" when in reference to France. "Classical or Greek Revival" is mostly in reference to architectural styles reflecting the period. And since the dude in this picture is actually French, then I suppose this would be Empire style.

EDIT: It was pointed out to me, and rightly so, that the dress she's wearing isn't really Victorian, and I should have referred to my notes, but I got lazy. This style dress is actually from a transitional period between Rococo and Victorian, and that period is simply referred to as the Classical or Greek Revival. What happened was archeologists of the time uncovered a bunch of ancient Greek ruins and artifacts, and all of Europe (and the Americas) got the Greek Revival fever. Corsets and bustles were done away with in an effort to imitate the more natural beauty of the Greek statues But when Victoria took the throne, she influenced fashion to sway back to a more conservative style.

I just wanted to draw Victorian clothing. These types of dresses were only fashionable for a short period of time during the Greek revival that happened around 1790 and lasted through about 1800 or 1810. But it's probably my favorite period of Victorian clothing.
